About NYAC
The National Youth Advocacy Coalition (NYAC) is a social justice organization that advocates for and with young people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning (LGBTQ) in an effort to end discrimination against these youth and to ensure their physical and emotional well-being. NYAC is funded under a cooperative agreement with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to serve as a capacity building assistance provider to organizations providing HIV prevention services to LGBTQ youth.
About the position
The Program Coordinator, Youth of Color Services will coordinate all activities related to disseminating the You Know Different social marketing campaign and delivering capacity-building assistance (CBA) services to community-based organizations to increase their ability to serve LGBTQ youth of color in HIV prevention services. To do this, the position will work with community-based organizations to facilitate community mobilization models, coalition building, cultural competency training, best practice sharing and technical assistance in order to increase LGBTQ youth of color access to and utilization of HIV prevention and testing services. This individual will spend time providing support to other programs based on areas of expertize and organizational need. This individual will also assist with facilitation of projects that compliment the individual's skills and experience. *This is a part-time position, 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Provide CBA services to CDC-funded organizations providing HIV prevention services to LGBTQ youth of color

Coordinate client intake for assigned projects and maintain client files

Assist with the identification of pro-active CBA requests by promoting NYAC services

Ensure the needs expressed on client intakes are handled by appropriate staff and make referrals

Deliver CBA trainings on topics related to the delivery of HIV social marketing messages to LGBTQ youth of color

Maintain and manage programmatic records and submit required reports

Assist with planning and delivery of webinars and online training library modules

Assist with HIV content on NYAC and CBA project websites

Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Four-year degree from an accredited college or university or 2-3 year of experience in related field

Advanced understanding of HIV in the LGBTQ youth of color communit(ies)

Experience in coalition building, community mobilization and/or awareness organizing

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Experience writing curricula, delivering training and conference presentations to adult and youth audiences

Comfort and experience using online social networking strategies, blogs, etc.; experience with social marketing preferred

Advanced computer skills

Online and offline research skills

Attentive to detail, able to cope with complexity, self-motivated, independent and calm under pressure

Support of the mission, vision and work of the National Youth Advocacy Coalition
Supervisor
The Program Coordinator will report to the Deputy Executive Director.
Compensation
Salary range: $20,000-$25,000 plus the following benefits - health, dental and vision insurance; short-term and long-term disability; annual leave; education leave and professional development.
