Take the Survey!

What’s the Survey About?

The purpose of the survey is to learn about tobacco use among LGBTQI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, and intersex) young adults across the country.  This is a nationwide survey and your responses are important to give us an idea of tobacco use in your state.  The survey involves answering some general questions about you and some questions about tobacco use.  The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete.

If you are between the ages of 18 and 24, you are eligible to participate in the survey.  There are three versions of the survey – one for current smokers, one for former smokers, and one for nonsmokers.  Please select the survey that applies to you.

The Survey is Voluntary and Anonymous

Your participation is completely voluntary, and your responses will be completely anonymous.  The data being collected through this survey will be analyzed at the group level only.   You do not have to answer any question you’d rather not answer.  There are no consequences if you decide not to complete the survey.

If you are not comfortable answering a question feel free to leave it blank. Some questions are sensitive in nature or may bring up difficult memories. If you feel the need, we encourage you to seek the support of friends, LGBT-friendly counselors and community organizations. If you are looking for someone to talk to or resources in your area and state, please visit The Trevor Project database.

What Prizes Can I Win?

The National Youth Advocacy Coalition will be conducting a raffle for American Express gift cards for every 200 surveys collected.  Every time 200 surveys are collected, the respondents to those surveys who are between the ages of 18 and 24 will be entered into a raffle for one $100 American Express gift card and two $50 American Express Gift cards.*  At the end of the entire survey process, a $150 American Express gift card will be raffled.  If you are interested in being entered into the drawing for one of these prizes, please fill out the information on the last page of the survey to enter the drawing. This form will be kept separate from your survey to ensure that your survey is anonymous.

Where Can I Find the Survey Results?

The results of this project will be available in June 2010.  If you would like to see the results of the survey, you can see them online at www.nyacyouth.org/tobacco.
