HIV continues to disproportionately affect LGBTQ youth, especially among communities of color. But are your prevention efforts meeting the needs of young people and taking advantage of the many ways that youth communicate, socialize and network? This is a web based program that uses podcasts, text messages, and videos to support adolescents trying to quit smoking. A series of 6 podcasts that can be played on the computer or downloaded to an ipod gives youth tips on how to quit and the text message service gives youth a month of daily support in the cessation process.

“You Know Different” is NYAC’s award-winning HIV testing social marketing campaign. For the last five years, organizations across the nation have utilized “You Know Different” to increase the number of LGBTQ youth testing for HIV at their organizations. NYAC is now launching an online version of “You Know Different” called yKNOWd on social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace.
