Stepping Out of the Closet, Into the Light - A Report on GLBT Student Truancy and Dropping Out
The National Education Association, NEA, developed this report on "the status of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people in education: stepping out of the closet, into the light." As stated by Tyler Miller

[the report] highlights [LGBT student's] struggle as well as that of GLBT school employees and offers concrete steps schools can take to improve their educational experience. It is NEA's first publication that combines research on GLBT issues and outlines program work by the Association to better the lives of students and its members.

Best Practices for LGBT Homeless Youth

These recommendations are broken down into three sections. The first section includes steps intake workers, case managers, social workers, youth supervisors, and others who have regular, direct contact with youth should take to improve the experiences of LGBT youth accessing services. The second section includes steps administrators should take to improve agency-wide culture and effectiveness in serving LGBT youth. The final section includes specific steps both administrators and youth workers should take to improve the experiences of youth in residential settings, whether these settings are emergency shelters or longer term transitional living.
